Company Profile
Precision Valley Institute for Advanced Manufacturing (PVI) is a not-for-profit organization and a Department of Defense (DoD) Center of Manufacturing Excellence. Focused on solving precision manufacturing problems for the DoD and its contractors, it is designed to be a national resource for expertise in precision manufacturing. In addition, PVI's charter is to advance the science and discipline of precision engineering/manufacturing in the U.S., including the education and training of both technicians and professionals in the precision manufacturing sciences.
Funding to PVI is provided under contract with the Tank and Armaments Command (TACOM) Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center (ARDEC), located at Picatinny Arsenal, New Jersey. Other Federal, State and private sector sources similarly support the overall objectives of PVI.
Olympic Precision, Inc. (OPI) manages, operates and staffs PVI. An independent Board of Directors oversees PVI and its research agenda. A synergistic relationship (including shared staff and facilities) between OPI and PVI enables leveraging of private/public sector objectives. Towards that end, PVI:
• Provides match-making/networking services to all parties, thereby coupling industry objectives with DoD needs and national (both public and commercial) capabilities.
• Facilitates a consortium of precision manufacturing technology sources and consumers, with the objective of leveraging knowledge and funding to the benefit of the DoD, US industry, and regional service providers.
• Executes educational programs in precision engineering/manufacturing at all levels—ranging from advanced apprenticeship programs to post-doctoral research and funded sabbaticals. The educational program will build on existing resources (e.g., local apprenticeship programs, local college-level training curricula, and invited experts in selected precision engineering/manufacturing topics).
